XJTU Students Excel at National Finals for 2025 FLTRP·ETIC Cup "Understanding Contemporary China" National Foreign Language Contest for College Students

The National Finals of the 2025 FLTRP·ETIC Cup "Understanding Contemporary China" National Foreign Language Contest for College Students concluded in Beijing on December 8. XJTU Students performed exceptionally well, winning 2 national gold awards, 5 silver awards and 6 bronze awards.

The competition enjoys growing influence and serves as an important platform for advancing foreign language teaching in universities, sharing China's wisdom, and promoting exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations.

Hosted by Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) and organized by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP), the contest consists of three groups: English Group, Multilingual Group, and International Chinese Group, covering 11 languages. After campus rounds and provincial rounds, more than 4,000 contestants advanced to the national finals, selected from 726,000 students across 1,537 colleges and universities. To ensure the competitiveness of participants, SFS has systematically organized candidate selection and training, carried out campus promotion, and arranged targeted training programs, attracting more than 800 students to take part in the campus round. The school also provided one-on-one tutoring for students who advanced to national finals, fully supporting participants to bring out the best in themselves.

XJTU's Practical Education Center, Teaching Affairs Department and Graduate School offered substantial support for foreign language competitions. SFS also attaches great importance to such competitions and has provided systematic training for all contestants, focusing on improving their core abilities including foreign language proficiency, dialectical thinking, and cross-cultural communication. Going forward, SFS will continue to optimize its foreign language practical teaching model, promote the coordinated development of curriculum, technology, and practice, and foster a high-quality foreign language learning ecosystem to cultivate more interdisciplinary talents with solid foreign language competence and global vision.
