XJTU Hosts 2025 TAC Medical Language Service Annual Conference

On December 5-6, 2025, the Annual Conference of the TAC Medical Language Service Committee was held at the iHarbour.

Guided by the TAC and co-hosted by XJTU and the TAC Medical Language Service Committee, the conference, themed "Uniting through Languages, Promoting Global Health," gathered a host of experts, scholars, and industry representatives to discuss the mission and evolution of medical language services in the new era.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Chen Xiangjing, Dean of SFS, together with other distinguished leaders and experts.

In his opening remarks, Sun Zao, Deputy Party Secretary of CPC XJTU Committee, extended a warm welcome to all distinguished guests attending the conference. He pointed out that medical language service plays a pivotal role in supporting global medical cooperation and public health governance. He stated that XJTU has long been committed to cultivating professionals in translation for medical purpose. Going forward, XJTU will continue to leverage its multidisciplinary strengths to deepen university-industry-research institute collaboration and make efforts to cultivate more high-caliber professionals in language service, thus contributing to promoting the high-quality development of medical translation and supporting the building of a "Global Community of Health for All."

Afterwards, distinguished guests who attended also shared their insights on national strategic needs and industry trends.

● Hu Zongfeng, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages at Xijing University and President of the Shaanxi Translators Association, highlighted thatShaanxi Translators Association has been dedicated to imparting fine traditional Chinese medicine culture. He also proposed that a medical translation quality control system should be established in this AI era.

● Yang Jianping, Director of the CICG Asia-Pacific and Director of the TAC Medical Language Service Committee, proposed four key expectations for medical language service talent education: raising political awareness to meet national needs, embracing technological transformation to drive industry upgrades, fostering "New Quality Talent" for future development, and enhancing communication effectiveness to share China's medical stories.

● Dang Zhengsheng, former Vice-President of Xi'an International Studies University and Member of the China National Committee for Graduate Education of Translation and Interpreting, emphasized the international communication value of Traditional Chinese Medicine culture. He called for a deepened industry-education integration to cultivate language professionals with global visions, facilitating medical dialogues between China and the world.

The opening ceremony was followed by the awards presentation for the 7th "Shizhen Cup" National Chinese Medicine Translation Competition.

During the keynote sessions, experts from various prestigious universities and enterprises shared their insights on the standardization of medical public signage, innovation in educational paradigms, and opportunities in global governance.

The following roundtable forum, themed "Smart Language in Medicine and International Communication", facilitated an in-depth dialogue among enterprise representatives. They addressed critical topics including technological applications, university-enterprise collaboration, and market demands for talent.

 

 

This conference achieved a broad consensus on talent cultivation, technological integration, and standardization, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development and cross-border collaboration of the medical language service industry.
