The third "Understanding Contemporary China, Telling Contemporary China" English Proficiency Competition, part of XJTU's 2025 Golden Autumn Foreign Language Festival, has recently concluded. The event attracted over 1,100 undergraduates, with 51 students winning prizes after two rounds of selection.

The competition kicked off with an online preliminary round, which tested participants' grasp of English expressions related to China's governance concepts, cultural references, and idioms. Beyond vocabulary, the competition aims to cultivate internationally minded talents capable of telling China's stories in English on the global stage— a vital skill for young scholars in today's interconnected world.

Participants demonstrated a strong command of English, showcasing their ability to express Chinese current affairs, cultural knowledge, and classical references with clarity and nuance. After fierce competition and strict selection, one top prize, 8 first prizes, 17 second prizes, and 25 third prizes were awarded.

The event not only highlights the students' enthusiasm and comprehensive abilities, but also reflects SFS's ongoing efforts to enhance students' practical English skills and integrate ideological education into language teaching.
