On November 2, 2025, the Shaanxi Provincial Finals of the 2025 "FLTRP·ETIC Cup" "Understanding Contemporary China" National Foreign Language Contest for College Students concluded successfully. Students from XJTU delivered exceptional performances, winning 13 gold awards, 13 silver awards, and 5 bronze awards, with gold medal counts ranking first in English, Japanese, French, and International Chinese competitions. This achievement marks a historic best for XJTU in the contest, demonstrating the university's comprehensive strength in multilingual talent cultivation.

The competition, themed "Understand China, Connect the World", has been included in the "National University Student Competition Ranking" released by the China Association of Higher Education for eight consecutive years. Organized by the Education Department of the Shaanxi Provincial Government, this year's contest attracted nearly 30,000 participants from 61 universities across the province, with over 900 students advancing to the provincial finals after rigorous selection.

To prepare for the competition, SFS launched a systematic selection process in late 2024, involving over 800 qualified students in campus-level contests across multiple languages. SFS also implemented comprehensive training programs, including a specialized summer course, team-based coaching, and one-on-one mentoring for provincial finalists, fully supporting students in showcasing their capabilities on the provincial stage.

Notably, XJTU international students excelled in the International Chinese Group (Short Video category). Under the collaborative organization of SFS, the School of International Education, and the School of Journalism and New Media, international students produced a series of outstanding short videos, such as Xi'an Spicy Adventure and Song Dynasty Tea Art. Focusing on cultural heritage, culinary traditions, traditional arts, transportation development, and hiking experiences, these videos offered authentic international perspectives on Shaanxi and China's rich cultural heritage and contemporary vitality, winning 1 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze awards. This success highlighted XJTU's effective integration of cross-cultural communication with International Chinese education.

Moving forward, SFS will continue to refine its "learning, teaching, and developing through competition" model, integrating curriculum development, technology empowerment, and competition practice to cultivate globally competent talents with strong foreign language proficiency and excellent cross-cultural communication skills.
