From September 6 to 7, 2025, SFS held its opening ceremonies for new postgraduate and undergraduate students, warmly welcoming the incoming cohort and outlining academic expectations and development opportunities.

The postgraduate orientation took place at iHarbour on September 6, while the undergraduate ceremony was held on Xingqing campus the following day. Both events were presided over by Xu Ming, Deputy Party Secretary of SFS.

SFS's Dean Chen Xiangjing addressed the audience in both events. She congratulated the new students on embarking on a new academic journey and highlighted SFS's continued progress in advancing its disciplinary strengths, particularly in internationalization and talent cultivation. She also encouraged students to quickly adapt to the new environment of university study, develop professional confidence, and make full use of SFS's teaching, research, and global exchange resources.

Faculty representatives emphasized the importance of building strong connections with mentors, maintaining resilience in research, and approaching challenges with a positive, proactive mindset.

Student voices were also central to the events. Senior student representatives shared practical advice, encouraging newcomers to explore opportunities, set career goals early, and cultivate a confident, proactive attitude toward academic challenges. New student representatives expressed their aspirations and commitment to embracing new challenges. They encouraged their peers to adapt quickly to their new roles, dive into research, and pursue personal growth while upholding the values and spirit of the school and the university.

The ceremony concluded with a shared expectation that students will make the most of their time at XJTU, contributing to both their own development and the continued growth of SFS.
