On June 3, 2025, the 31st session of SFS Career Planning Lecture Series was organized by the Career Development Studio and the Graduate Student Union of SFS, with support from Class 2117 and Class 2116 (Master's Program). Focusing on the Civil Service Selection and Recruitment Examination, the session aimed to help students better understand the exams, clarify their career goals, and make effective preparation.
Three guest speakers—Bao Junxin, Sheng Shitao, and Liu Yutong, all 2022-enrolled MTI students—were invited to share their insights. Drawing on their firsthand experiences, they provided in-depth guidance on policy interpretation, eligibility criteria, post selection, exam preparation strategies, background checks, and medical examinations.
Bao Junxin kicked off the session by outlining his structured approach to exam preparation. Starting in July, he made a systematic study plan, preparing for the exam in modules through printed materials, on-line courses, and interview simulations. He also emphasized the importance of the background check stage, advising students to prepare their resumes in advance and undergo a preliminary medical check-up.
Sheng Shitao shared insights into his preparation for a civil servant post in Jiangxi Province, highlighting the significance of being familiar with local history and culture. He advised making good use of previous exam papers, noting that essay topics often center on youth values and grassroots governance. He also recommended several useful knowledge accumulation platforms.
Liu Yutong provided a detailed analysis of the civil service exam in Tianjin, covering eligibility requirements, exam characteristics, and preparation techniques. She encouraged targeted preparation, regular practice with local exam formats, and early development of logical expression sills and mental resilience.
During the Q&A session, students actively interacted with the speakers, who encouraged attendees to stay committed and optimistic throughout their preparations.
The lecture offered practical guidance and valuable insights for students aspiring to pursue a career in civil service. It is hoped that students will future explore their professional interests, plan ahead, and strive for high-quality employment.
