On January 10, 2025, Wang Dong, Director of Shaanxi International Communication Center (SICC), led a delegation including Zhang Lei (Director of the Department of International Exchanges), Liu Zheng (Deputy Director), and Kuang Yuanyuan (Deputy Director of the Department of Content) to visit SFS at XJTU. Talks were held between the delegation and the SFS side, including Chen Xiangjing, Dean of SFS; Zhang Chang'an, Secretary of the SFS Party Committee; Wang Hua, Vice Dean of SFS and Deputy Director of the Eurasian Research Center; Ji Le, Director of the MTI Education Center; and other faculty representatives. Discussions focused on establishing a "Joint Postgraduate Training Base", collaborative research on area studies, international communications, and in-depth exchanges.

Wang Dong introduced the development of SICC and its mission: building a Shaanxi-style foreign communication platform integrating overseas networks, content production, cultural exchanges, and research to tell China’s, Shaanxi’s, and the Silk Road’s stories globally.

Chen Xiangjing highlighted SFS's strengths: a full bachelor-master-doctor training system, interdisciplinary teams, platforms like the Eurasian Research Center, and professionals in MTI and international Chinese education programs. SFS kept conducting high-level research in international communications, area studies, and ethnic issues through integrated theory and practice.

Zhang Chang’an proposed four key initiatives to ensure effective bilateral collaboration: advancing talent development through university-industry educational partnerships, enhancing international communication research and practice with cross-disciplinary support from SFS, commercializing research outcomes by leveraging XJTU's industry platforms to tackle key challenges of corporations, and establishing joint research mechanisms to accelerate academic output serving national strategic priorities

Wang Hua detailed SFS’s international communication team, Eurasian Research Center's outputs, and potential cooperation areas. Both sides exchanged views on opportunities and challenges and reached consensus on all-round cooperation.

The talks were praised as focused, pragmatic, and fruitful, laying the groundwork for deeper university-enterprise collaboration to boost Shaanxi’s international communication and serve national strategies.
