On December 26, 2025, SFS held its 36th session of Career Planning Lecture Series, focusing on Working in State-Owned Enterprises and Central Enterprises. Chen Jinyi, a postgraduate student majoring in Foreign Language and Literature (Grade 2023), was invited as the speaker.
Chen began his sharing on the classification and characteristics of state-owned commercial and public welfare enterprises. Taking FAW and China Mobile as examples, he explained the positioning and development logic of enterprises. He then analyzed the responsibilities of three major positions suitable for foreign language majors: overseas market development, translation and language services, and administration among overseas teams. He emphasized that these positions generally require "language + industry" knowledge, cross-cultural communication skills, and physical fitness for frequent business trips.
Focusing on state-owned enterprises, Chen Jinyi shared practical job-seeking tips, advising students to grasp key recruitment timelines. He also recommended job information channels, offered suggestions on resume writing and interviews.
During the Q&A session, students proposed questions about the working environment, competency requirements, and resume optimization targeting state-owned enterprises and central enterprises. Chen answered each question and pointed out that foreign language majors should intentionally develop their comprehensive management and cross-cultural communication abilities.
This session covered key points regarding employment in state-owned enterprises and central enterprises, emphasizing that career planning should be forward-looking. It provided useful suggestions for future foreign language graduates in improving their "language + industry" competencies and practical skills, giving clear guidance and useful references for those who might be interested in such careers.
