A faculty team from SFS has won the first prize (top award) in the undergraduate category at the national finals of the 2025 Study Exchange and Collection of Foreign Language Micro-Courses held at XJTU on October 26. XJTU was also recognized as an "Outstanding Organizer" for its role in hosting the event.

The award-winning team, consisting of Ma Lina, Qian Xi, and Ge Dongmei, stood out among over a thousand teams nationwide for their innovative micro-course design and effective pedagogical application. They were the only team from Shaanxi Province to receive this honor in this year's competition.

Co-organized by Higher Education Press, the Higher Education Institutions Teacher Online Training Center, and Foreign Language in China Editorial Office, the competition has been held for 11 consecutive years and is widely recognized as a key national platform for advancing foreign language teaching. This year's event attracted 3,570 teachers from 450 universities, with 1,190 micro-course entries submitted. After multiple rounds of selection over seven months, only 46 undergraduate teams advanced to the final stage.

The SFS team based its project on a national first-class undergraduate online course, General Academic English (Skills), focusing on core English for Academic Purposes (EAP) reading skills. They integrated task-based and concept-based teaching methods while leveraging AI-enabled tools, including digital avatars and an interactive learning assistant, to provide personalized learning support for students. Their innovative approach and compelling presentation earned high recognition from the judges and enabled them to secure the top award.

Supported by the Teaching Affairs Department and the Faculty and Teaching Development Center, and SFS, XJTU has established a long-term mechanism to promote teaching innovation through competition. SFS continues to advance digital transformation in education by enhancing faculty digital literacy and supporting innovative teaching practices. The team's achievement highlights the university's ongoing efforts to develop smart learning environments and improve the quality of foreign language education.
