On July 15, 2025, the 2025 China-Central Asia Human Rights Development Forum was held in Xi’an, Shaanxi province. Under the theme “Deepening Civilization Exchanges and Cooperation to Promote Human Rights Development”, the forum gathered over 60 government officials, scholars, media representatives and leaders of human rights institutions and social organizations from China and Central Asian countries.

Professor Wang Hua from SFS was invited to attend and delivered a speech titled Development-Led Human Rights Cooperation: Collaborative Pathways for China-Central Asia in Building a Community with a Shared Future during the session themed “Building a Community with a Shared Future and Promoting Human Rights Development”.

In his address, Professor Wang emphasized that development serves as a crucial foundation for advancing human rights. Cooperation between China and Central Asian countries in trade, culture, and technology has provided strong support for human rights initiatives in the region.

He also noted that current China-Central Asia cooperation in human rights faces both internal and external regional challenges. To address these, he proposed institutionalized, focused, and people-centered development strategies, adhering to the principles of extensive consultation, joint construction, and shared benefits in the process of building a community with a shared future, and further deepening collaboration in trade and logistics, infrastructure, energy and resources, education and healthcare, public welfare technologies, and digital development. Through synergistic development, regional development can be enhanced comprehensively, thereby better safeguarding and promoting human rights.

The forum provided a platform for in-depth dialogue between Chinese and Central Asian experts, contributing to shared understanding and cooperation in the field of human rights development.
