On July 7, 2025, SFS and the School of Law held a meeting to advance the “Law + English” double-degree program. Seventeen participants attended, including Ding Wei, Vice Dean of the School of Law; Li Ying, Vice Dean of SFS; and faculty and academic staff involved in the program.

The meeting began with an overview of the program’s background and significance, emphasizing its role in cultivating interdisciplinary legal professionals with strong English proficiency. Special focus was placed on the design of the “Law-focused English” course series.

During the discussion, faculty members from both schools exchanged insights on the curriculum design, teaching methods, and resource collaboration of integrated courses such as Comprehensive English: Law, Legal English Listening and Speaking, Legal English Writing, with constructive suggestions provided for curriculum improvement.

Participants also discussed and reached a consensus on key operational arrangements, including class advisor and academic mentor assignments, measures for student specialization diversion and international exchange opportunities.

In closing, Vice Dean Ding Wei reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening inter-school communication and cooperation to ensure high-quality development of the program.

As the university’s first double-degree program, the “Law + English” program integrates resources from both schools to cultivate much-needed talents proficient in foreign-related law. The first cohort of students will start their studies in September 2025.

The meeting helped ensure solid implementation of the program and fostered deeper cooperation between the two schools.
