
On the afternoon of April 15, 2025, XJTU hosted a collaborative exchange meeting with the University of Auckland.
Chen Xiangjing, Dean of SFS, reviewed the foundation of the partnership between the two institutions. She proposed deepening cooperation in talent cultivation, especially in joint educational programs, international undergraduate foundation and Year One programs, as well as joint PhD programs.
Gao Yan, Director of the Department of Continuing Education at XJTU, shared XJTU's experience and achievements in international talent development, and expressed a desire to establish substantive collaboration with the University of Auckland.
In response, Nuala Gregory, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Education at the University of Auckland, gave an overview of the Faculty of Arts and Education, noting that it is the second-largest faculty at the university and encompasses a wide range of disciplines.
Lawrence Zhang, Associate Dean of the Faculty, elaborated on the ongoing joint master's programs and outlined the faculty's academic offerings.
The two sides engaged in focused discussions on expanding international undergraduate foundation and Year One programs. They also agreed to extend the joint master's degree program, and advance joint PhD programs and other collaborative programs. Efforts will be made to promote high-level dialogue moving forward.
Founded in 1883, the University of Auckland is one of New Zealand's most prestigious institutions, ranked 68th globally and first in New Zealand according to the 2024 QS World University Rankings. Since 2020, XJTU and the University of Auckland have maintained substantial collaboration in language studies, including joint master's programs and a range of academic exchanges. This visit marks a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral cooperation.
