From July 8 to 9, 2024, the 8th Summer Camp for Outstanding Undergraduates of SFS was held both online and offline, attracting 113 undergraduate students from over 20 renowned universities nationwide.

Cheng Bing, Vice Dean of SFS, presided over the opening ceremony.
Chen Xiangjing, Dean of SFS, extended a warm welcome to the participants. She traced SFS's history and highlighted how the school has cultivated interdisciplinary strengths by leveraging XJTU's robust science and engineering foundation. She also introduced the school's strong faculty, advanced teaching facilities, and its Shaanxi Provincial Key Laboratory.
Dr. Yang Wenchun, representative of the supervisors, highlighted the university's open and inclusive academic environment and the exceptional research platforms. She also encouraged students to participate in the camp to realize academic fulfillment in their endeavors.
Huang Xinle, a second-year doctoral student, spoke as the student representative about her academic journey at XJTU, where she completed her master's degree and is currently pursuing her Ph.D.
Lu Yanhua, Director of the Center for Graduate Studies in Foreign Languages, presented an overview of the Master's program in Foreign Linguistics and Literature, detailing its disciplinary focuses, training features, and educational achievements.
Ji Le, Director of the MTI Education Center, outlined the Master's program in Translation and Interpretation, covering its history, training features, international exchanges, and industry partnerships. She highlighted the program's industry-academia integration model and its strong graduate employment performance
On the afternoon of July 8, SFS hosted a series of insightful academic lectures for the camp participants, with Shi Yuxuan, Assistant to Dean, chairing the session. Professor Zang Xiaojia discussed interdisciplinary perspectives on literature and globalization, while Associate Professor Gao Yang shared his professional journey in linguistics through personal narratives. Industry expert Huang Chengyan provided insights into current translation technology trends and career pathways in the language services sector.
On the morning of July 9, SFS conducted group interviews to assess camp participants' academic competencies and comprehensive skills. In the afternoon, supervisors had face-to-face exchanges with students.
After the exchange session, Jiang Yurong from Nankai University and Yu Ziqian from Minzu University of China shared their gains from the summer camp and their anticipation of and aspirations to join SFS for further study.
Zhang Chang'an, Secretary of the SFS Party Committee, closed the camp. In his speech, he noted that foreign language learners should align their personal development with China's national strategies while enhancing professional competencies. He highly commended the participants' academic excellence and extended a formal invitation for them to apply for SFS graduate programs.
