On May 12, 2026, SFS held its 39th session of the Career Planning Lecture Series, themed Internship Experience Sharing. The event was designed to help students grasp current job market trends, master practical internship skills, and map out clear career trajectories. Three 2024 cohort master's students — Zhen Muqiu, Li Qi and Zhou Yitong, who have excellent internship experience in big companies — were invited as speakers.

Zhen Muqiu opened the session with an overview of job roles in the internet industry, with a special focus on AI product managers. She outlined core responsibilities, daily workflows, and key distinctions between AI product managers and traditional product management roles. According to her, competent AI product managers need both hard skills such as user-centric thinking and data analysis, and soft skills such as adaptive communication and rapid learning. She recommended several hands-on ways to get started, including trying out AI tools, building simple prototypes, and drafting competitor analysis reports. She also shared introductory reading materials and learning resources, providing guidance for students interested in exploring careers in AI.

Next, Li Qi drew on her internship experience to offer practical guidance for translation majors. She outlined the internship requirements for both interpreting and translation tracks, including mandatory internship duration and minimum practicum requirements. Based on her own experience, she introduced different translation roles, the skills they require, and the challenges they present. She emphasized the importance of continuous learning and shared practical advice on preparing for, making the most of, and reflecting on internships.

The final speaker, Zhou Yitong, shared insights into HR overseas training roles, based on his internship at vivo. He covered typical daily duties, compensation packages, and personal professional growth gained from this position. He noted that the role lets interns fulfill graduate translation requirements efficiently while gaining end-to-end insights into the consumer electronics industry. He also shared job-search resources and recruitment insights for similar roles, encouraging students to seek internship opportunities early and gain hands-on experience.

During the Q&A session, the speakers talked about job search strategies, office software skills, and interviewing for roles beyond their primary field of study. Drawing on their own experiences, they offered practical advice and actionable suggestions.

The lecture offered practical guidance on internships and career planning, giving students a clearer understanding of career opportunities. Participants said the session helped them prepare more confidently for future internships and job searches.
