A Delegation of CICG Academy of Translation and Interpretation Visits SFS

On April 10, 2025, a delegation led by Huang Yulong, Vice President of the Translators Association of China and Dean of the Academy of Translation and Interpretation (ATI) of China International Communications Group (CICG) along with Wang Fei, Deputy Dean; Liang Qianru, Director of the New Technology Development Department; and Jin Lenan, Deputy Director of the International Communication Department, visited SFS. The two sides held talks in iHarbour. Participants from XJTU included Chen Xiangjing, Dean of SFS; Zhang Chang'an, Secretary of SFS Party Committee; Wang Hua, Vice Dean; Wang Fei, Deputy Director of XJTU Center for Translation & Interpreting (XJTUCTI); Ji Le, Director of the MTI Education Center; and Deputy Directors Xu Mei and Xue Jie.

 


Chen Xiangjing extended a warm welcome on behalf of XJTU and SFS, highlighting the school's disciplinary strengths in interdisciplinary characteristics, research achievements, and translation practical capabilities. She expressed hopes for pragmatic cooperation across multiple fields under the agreement, emphasizing synergies in talent cultivation and international communication research.

Wang Fei outlined the CICG Academy of Translation and Interpretation's core businesses in six areas, including translation talent development, national major translation projects, and industry standard management. Liang Qianru proposed deepening cooperation through initiatives like developing translation technology standards and medical translation standards.

Wang Hua spotlighted SFS’s outstanding achievements in audience analysis, effect evaluation, and public opinion management for international communication. Zhang Chang'an emphasized that applying for DTI program is a key focus for SFS in the coming years. He called for optimized bilateral collaboration in refining training directions, integrating resources, and enhancing cultivation quality.

In his concluding remarks, Huang Yulong highly recognized SFS's distinctive talent cultivation model, noting broad cooperation prospects in medical translation and international communication. He expressed the commitment to deep participation in SFS's talent cultivation and his expectation for SFS to nurture more high-quality professional translators for the nation.

During the visit, Huang Yulong delivered a lecture titled "Accelerating Cultivation of Applied Talents and Engaging in New-Era International Communication Practices". Analyzing the international landscape, he emphasized that international communication is an unshakable historical mission for contemporary foreign language professionals. He stressed that new-era international communication requires distinguishing between static and dynamic approaches, balancing channels and content. Foreign languages form the foundation, professionalism provides support, and culture is the key in international communication practices. He urged students to engage in international communications to enhance China's global communication capabilities. In the Q&A session, Huang addressed questions on international communication strategies and AI technology applications, inspiring students with insights and his extensive practical experience.

This exchange represents a key step in implementing the bilateral cooperation framework. Both sides confirmed plans to deepen collaboration in joint construction of a high-end talent pool, major translation project practices, and employment services, aiming to elevate the partnership to new heights.
