On the evening of May 10, 2024, Class 2119 (Master's Program) hosted the 16th session of the Career Planning Lecture Series online, where alumna Lv Meng shared insights into overseas PhD program application.

Lv Meng is currently pursuing a PhD at Boston College in the United States, with a research focus on computational psychometrics and automatic item generation. She was a 2023 graduate of SFS under the supervision of Professor Ma Xiaomei and specialized in cognitive diagnostic assessment.

Drawing from her personal application experience for an overseas PhD program, Lv shared the necessary academic background, application procedures, and program differences across countries and regions. In addition, she provided practical tips on contacting overseas advisors, bridging information gaps encountered by Chinese mainland students, and preparing for interviews.

During the Q&A session, she responded to questions regarding career planning and PhD preparation, and encouraged students to believe in their potential and never set boundaries for themselves.

Through this session, attending students not only gained valuable insights into pursuing advanced study abroad, but also developed a clearer understanding of the challenges and opportunities in applying to overseas PhD programs.
