To help students better understand industry trends and prepare for their careers, SFS's Career Development Studio and the Graduate Student Union supported Class 3122 (Master's Program) to host the 15th session of the Career Planning Lecture Series online, focusing on work in public institutions. The lecture included three main parts: 1) Introduction of guest speaker Chen Siqiao; 2) Chen Siqiao's working experience in the foreign affairs office and his insights into preparing for public institution examinations; 3) An interactive exchange between Chen Siqiao and the fellow students.
Chen Siqiao, currently working as a staff member in the protocol division of a county-level foreign affairs office, graduated with a bachelor's degree from Chongqing Foreign Languages University and a master's degree from Sichuan International Studies University. He began the lecture with an introduction of himself, his internship and current role at the foreign affairs office, and the daily work content and workload of public institutions. Chen then outlined several entry pathways to public institutions, such as selection, transfer, and talent recruitment. He also provided preparation tips based on his own experience and recommended useful apps for exam preparation. In the end, he encouraged attended students to "have a broad vision, be attentive, and tackle difficult tasks" and to actively engage in practice, and wished everyone to find their desired positions.
During the Q&A session, Chen Siqiao talked about public institution recruitment processes and shared his work experience, and wished all students to clarify their career plans and find satisfying jobs in the future.
